Mary Crowley is the kind of person Maine was made for: she loves to hike and ski, and often jokes that she “wishes it could be winter all year round.” Mary is also a great fit at Legacy Publishing Company, located in Westbrook, Maine, where her warmth, energy and positive attitude shine through in her position as Media Buyer and Coordinator.

That same attitude has been the force behind Mary’s career growth at Legacy, and has seen her consistently move up to new positions that challenged and motivated her. Since she started here five-and-a-half years ago as a sales representative, Mary has been promoted to shift manager, media coordinator, and now media buyer. While she feels well-suited to her current position, Mary is also glad she had time in sales. “During the time I was a sales rep, I did well enough to go back and work on my college degree in Psychology without taking out any loans. The flexibility of the hours was also a plus for me, because my supervisors worked around my school schedule,” she said.

Mary describes her job as a media buyer as “kind of like being in a competition. I’m a very competitive person and I like to win, so it’s really fulfilling when my bids for on-air time are accepted. Once you get good at it, it’s really fun, almost like gambling,” she says with a smile. “It’s the feeling of winning.” She also likes the fact that she talks to people all over the country every day. “I have a lot of good relationships with the people in various media markets who I deal with on a daily basis, which is also really satisfying.”
